6-19-18. The Jacksonville chapter of CREW hosted a hardhat tour of the Laura Street trio on June 19, 2018. Our tour guide, Steve Atkins, provided insight on the project as a whole and took us through the Barnett Bank building which is currently under construction.
The Barnett Bank building will be the first facility to come online with 108 residential rental units and eight floors of commercial space. The University of North Florida as well as JP Morgan Chase have both committed to commercial leases at the property. There remains two full-floors of commercial space still available.
Simultaneously a new parking garage is being constructed across from the Barnett Bank building. The total number of parking spaces has yet to be finalized. There will be a minimum of 605 spaces and up to 810 spaces. All residential tenants will receive a parking space and commercial tenants will have spaces available per the terms of their lease.
Later phases of the project include the renovation of the marble Bank building. Local restaurant tour, Scotty Schwartz, has expressed interest in having a restaurant operation in the building.
A Marriott product hotel is also in the plans for the remaining building on Laura Street.
