Curry Thomas Hardware Store - SOLD

The Curry Thomas Hardware Store at 3907 Baymeadows Road has been sold for $940.000. John Ergisi, owner of Jacksonville-based brokerage company United Retail Services bought the space with his part Dr. Rajesh Mali, hoping to revitalize the area. “We’re going to make it look brand new,” said Ergisi. Their plan is to spend $700,000-$800,000 on redeveloping the space, starting with remodeling the building’s storefront, parking and signage.

Shaun Mayberry, Asset and Acquisitions Manager at Prime Realty, brokered the sale and “believes we are setting the stage for other re-purpose projects in the vicinity.”

The new owners hope to find new retail tenants in the meantime for the currently vacant 13,700 square foot building and state that they had long thought about purchasing the building due to its “great location and good bones.”

The Curry Thomas Hardware Store at 3907 Baymeadows Road has been sold for $940,000. The company opened in 1947 and has been in the Baymeadows building since 1977.

John Ergisi, owner of Jacksonville-based brokerage service United Retail Services, closed on his purchase Monday, and with the help of his business partner, Dr. Rajesh Mali, he intends to spend $700,000 to $800,000 redeveloping it.

Ergisi has long considered buying the 13,700-square-foot-building, which he passes on his way to and from work.

"I would say, 'What a great location,'" Ergisi told the Business Journal, adding that the building had "good bones."

Prime Realty's Shaun Mayberry brokered the sale.

“This new retail project brings a spark to the Baymeadows corridor," said Mayberry. “I believe we are setting the stage for other re-purpose projects in the vicinity.”

Ergisi intends to remodel the building's storefront, signage and parking in the first phase of construction, which he expects will take about five months.

The hardware store, which also houses a restaurant, was constructed in 1977. The property last sold while vacant in 1973 for $75,000.

"We're going to make it look brand new," he said.
