Jacksonville is in a category with cities like Nashville and Austin, according to the Urban Land Institute.

ULI’s annual Emerging Trends in Real Estate Report named Jacksonville as one of its “Supernova” cities, among a larger grouping of Magnet cities.

The Supernova cities are Austin, Boise, Jacksonville, Nashville and Raleigh/Durham.

“In astronomy, a supernova is the explosion of a star that creates unusual brilliance, but more generally the term refers to things that explode into prominence or popularity. So it is with the five metro areas in this new category,” the report says.
